Further to my post on Still Life I wanted to note down and clarify some of the rules of composition in relation to still life painting.
Initially my research has led me to narrow it down as follows:
- To create visual harmony – don’t make any two subjects the same, keep shapes, spaces and gaps between things different.
- To create a sense of balance – Rule of Thirds, Rule of Odds & Golden Mean
- 3 is the magic number
