5. PROJECT: Working from drawings and photographs

In contrast to previous projects, this section calls for a painting created putely from previous drawings and sketches without referring back to the original subject. Despite the obvious advantages of working only in the studio and therefore in the warmth and comfort of home, it still has its disadvantages. Photos offer a 2D flat image, someone else’s perspective of a scene or if taken by me then a perspective taken in an instant and therefore a limited. Often my sketches don’t include enough detail or notes of colours or specific things I liked or disliked about a landscape. These bring their own challenges.
